Gradings are NOT compulsory and should only be taken if you are very confident of passing it. On the day, as a beginner, you will be guided through the grading process sympathetically. As a complete and utter beginner in Taekwondo, we are simply trying to assess your very basic abilities, co-ordination and discipline.
Below is what you will be asked to do
FLOOR EXERCISES
- Sitting stance single front punch
- Front rising kick / leg rising exercise
- 10 Press ups (Knuckles for adults and hands for juniors)
- Walking Stance, Low outer forearm block
- Walking Stance, Middle punch
- Walking stance, middle forearm block
- Walking stance / middle inner forearm block, middle reverse punch. Forward & back
- 3 step sparring
- Four Directional Punch number 1-4
- Basic self defence
THEORY
After the grading you will be asked a few theory questions. Maintain Attention stance throughout grading. Look forward and no fidgeting

Belt meanings
- White signifies innocence, as that of the beginning student who has no previous knowledge of Tae Kwon-Do
- Yellow signifies Earth, from which the plant sprouts and takes root as Taekwondo foundations is being laid.
